Mission Statement
Aurora Warms the Night (AWTN) shelters those experiencing homelessness in the winter when temperatures reach 20 degrees or colder. Year round services include meals, warm clothing, hygiene items, transportation to shelter, laundry vouchers, bus passes, partner agency referrals, and advocacy. We operate these services in order to ensure families and individuals meet their most basic needs, learn new skills, and access resources to transition out of homelessness. By partnering with providers, we are helping to break the cycle of homelessness through comprehensive services. Our partner provider services are located onsite in our building and include mental health services, health care clinics, workforce education for clients including resume writing, interviewing skills, job coaching assistance, food assistance (SNAPS), SSI, and SSDI application assistance; and veterans’ services.

WHAT WE DO We strive to do it all here at Aurora Warms The Night. Our Public Services Organization provides a dynamic work environment where deadlines are met and goals are not only met, but they are exceeded. We work on many exciting initiatives to improve the lives of others, and are very proud of the work we do. Located in original Aurora near the Colfax corridor, AWTN vouchers provides shelter and comprehensive services for Aurora’s homeless. All services are provided free of charge to homeless clients including men, women, children, and families. Clients may access a variety of services in our building Monday - Thursday 9:00AM - 12PM, no appointment needed. Learn more... Way to help Help with Special Events. Like to plan parties? Help plan our special events and fundraisers, or volunteer the day of the event. With over 20 annual events, there is something for you! Whether it is dining out at our restuarnts that support us with a portion of the proceeds, wine tasting, faith and school based activities, holiday concerts or parties, signature fundraising events, silent auctions, live music, or visiting at our open house, we look forward to seeing you soon! Quest Aurora. This is an annual event that takes place in the Fall. The purpose is to raise funds for the coming winter months. Let's just say it's a cross between a good old fashioned scavenger hunt and the Amazing Race! In fact, it's more than that. Quest Aurora is our Annual Fundraiser with a twist of fun! If you are ready to test your skills, exercise your competitive spirit, enjoy great food, win prizes AND do it all to help us end homelessness...then this is your event! Volunteer opportunities are numerous and fun! Holiday Party. We know how to party here at AWTN. Our Holiday Party is in honor of our clients, our donors, our volunteers and our partners. It's a great time to come together and mingle, start new relationships and just have fun. Sponsorship. Sponsorship opportunities are available on a vareity of levels - send us an email to inquire! Volunteer with Regular Programs and Operations. Join us at our office at 1544 Elmira Street by appointment. Program Assistance. Assist with client intake or distributing clothing and food. Summer Lunches. Provide or serve summer lunches to our clients during the months of June and July. Administrative Tasks. Assist in every day administrative tasks, like retrieving mail, answering the phone, returning phone calls, filing, and donor care. CARE 4 U Laundry Days. We need volunteers for this monthly program to assist clients with washing, drying and folding clothes as well as providing conversation and friendship while building positive relationships. *This program takes place at Laundry on the Fax on Colfax Avenue. Assemble Hygiene and Food Kits. Volunteers can join us at the office to assemble food and hygiene kits with the donated items and bags that are provided by families, organizations and churches throughout Aurora. Serve on the Board of Directors. We are always looking for dedicated people who would like to serve on our Board of Directors.
