Mission Statement
Our mission is to help homeless LGBT youth ages 16-25 to be safe, thrive, and become independent as they move from adolescence to adulthood by providing housing and a continuum of supportive and clinical services, in an effort to prepare them for successful independent living.
About This Cause
This year, the Ali Forney Center served nearly 220,000 meals, to over 2,000 young people while providing 30,000+ support services. In addition to sheltering them from the harms of the streets, we also sheltered them from COVID-19. In fact, we were one of the very few shelters that stayed open during the entire pandemic lockdown and the only LGBT organization in NYC that has not shut its doors throughout this entire time.
