About This Cause
Shift Outreach Center is a division of New Mt Pleasant Outreach Center Inc. The From the beginning of New Mt Pleasant Outreach Ministries Incorporation’s conception in 2003, our goal has been to care for the less fortunate in our community. Through further implementation of our vision, namely, S.H.I.F.T Family Outreach Center (Supplemental Help Inspiring Full Transition), we have been able to see this vision come to fruition through our soup kitchen, and housing for some the homeless in our community. From the beginning our serving meals to the hungry has been successful. Each year the numbers has increased from the twenty to thirty meals served per day at the beginning. In recent years to numbers have increased significantly. In 2022 alone, we served anywhere from forty to eighty plates lunches per day Monday through Friday to all who came through our door. We distributed ……pound of uncooked food throughout our city and neighboring cities. We provided clothes and other items that were made available to anyone in need. Our concentration is on the east side of the city where the is population has the most disparity. In the same year, we provided shelter for fifteen people who came to us for help. The initial goal is to house a resident for six months. Although circumstances can cause their stay to be extended, everyone’s tenancy is temporary. Our goal is not just to feed or house people, but also to equip them with all the tools that are needed to sustain themselves, this includes assisting them in obtaining employment . Also in 2022, we held events that have made an impact on the lives of the people in the community. These events included health fairs to encourage the importance of one’s health, banking seminars to acquaint them with knowledge of money management and the importance of having sound credit, as well as investing set funds in one’s future through saving accounts. We sponsor community events for the neighborhood to come out and get acquainted with each other in which we provide gifts, food, and games. As this Ministry continues to grow we want, in addition to what we are already doing, to implement projects that will address the needs of our young and single family homes in the community.
