Mission Statement

The mission of the Carrollwood Cultural Center is to create culture through community and community through culture by providing cultural and educational programs and events that enhance learning, creativity, and a sense of community across groups and generations.

About This Cause

The magic of the Carrollwood Cultural Center began over 15 years ago with a special partnership between Hillsborough County and a then newly formed nonprofit, Friends of Carrollwood Cultural Center. The County purchased two former churches on 5 acres of land in Carrollwood Village, a community located 15 miles northwest of downtown Tampa. Under a formal agreement that renews annually, the County maintains the land and buildings and provides a sliding-scale management fee to the Center to organize all cultural and educational programming under the guidance of a Board of Directors. The Center is nestled within a park-like setting with old growth oak trees and is comprised of a 26,000 sq. ft main building with a raised main stage and flexible seating options for up to 200 people, art exhibition spaces, a clay studio, a dance studio, a music room, three art classrooms, and three conference rooms. The second building, called The Studio, provides 6,000 sq. ft of additional space for smaller performances and storage. Above all, the Center is a place where a community came together to prove that ordinary citizens can, through their labors and generosity, determine the culture of the place in which they live out their lives.
