Mission Statement
We identify and empower talented -in academics, arts or sports-, underprivileged students ("Champs") by providing them with scholarships to a world-class education. These students also learn the skills necessary to become future leaders within Peru.
About This Cause
Peru Champs is a nonprofit organization that seeks to support gifted children from low income backgrounds by providing them with scholarships so that they can attend a school with an excellent quality of education. Innova schools is a network of outstanding private schools, located all across Peru. We work with them because they crucially maintain consistency in the standard of education they provide across the board, regardless of location or local economy. With this partnership with Innova schools, students families’ pay for 25% of the yearly tuition, and the other 75% comes from Peru Champs and its sponsors. The purpose of having the families pay for a portion of the tuition is to ensure the family maintains a vested interest in the academic performance and overall state of mind of the Champ. Peru Champs not only provides scholarships for education, but works to develop vital soft skills and leadership abilities in our Champs. To nurture and grow these capabilities, Champs participate in our ‘Leadership Program’, which is a platform through which Champs learn soft skills in 9 different leadership activities. These include mentoring, entrepreneurship, community service projects, and professional coaching, among others. Our main objective at Peru Champs is to overcome the inherent disparity in quality of education that our country suffers from. We firmly believe that, when equipped with the necessary tools, our Champs can become future leaders in their communities because of the support the scholarship and Leadership Program provides. To date we have given about 3000 scholarships and our goal is to grant an additional 1000 a year. What are our values? Gratitude: we exist thanks to generous donors who believe in our mission.
