About This Cause
As the region's early childhood resource and referral agency, 4C helps families locate and evaluate early care and education programs for children. 4C provides training for child care providers and works to increase the supply and quality of child care programs in the community. In 2017, 4C made a difference in the lives of 132,778 children by educating and supporting the adults who care for them. Services include: PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: 4C offers high-quality courses for teachers, directors and child care providers. Last year, 4C reached 20,588 early childhood professionals through 1,497 workshops and training courses. 4C's training and coaching helps child care programs achieve quality ratings in Ohio's Step Up To Quality (SUTQ) and Kentucky's All STARS. FAMILY AND COMMUNITY SERVICES: 4C provides free child care referrals to families by using a comprehensive listing of child care centers, preschool programs, family child care homes, Head Start programs and after-school programs. 4C focuses on helping families find and choose quality care, while empowering parents with education to ensure their child's optimal development. Last year, 4C served over 8,000 families. CHILD NUTRITION PROGRAM: 4C sponsors the federal Child and Adult Care Food Program for child care providers, helping 2,140,753 young children in child care receive nutritious meals each year. Last year, 4C impacted the lives of more than 207,000 children through our work with the adults who care for them – parents, child care providers and teachers. More than 20,000 child care providers participated in 4C professional development opportunities in 2017. 4C for Children is viewed by both child care providers and parents as the most trusted resource for information about early education and care.
