About This Cause

For nearly fifty years, we have empowered educators and transformed classrooms, ensuring that students from kindergarten through high school acquire the critical economic and financial literacy skills they need to thrive. Through our unwavering commitment to teacher training, innovative school-based programs, and state-of-the-art curricular resources, we have established ourselves as a leader in the field. Annually, we equip 300-600 teachers through dynamic professional development seminars, enhancing their expertise in economics, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy. These teachers, in turn, influence the lives of over 2.5 million students globally each year, preparing them to navigate the complexities of the modern economy, make informed financial decisions, and build prosperous futures. Programs like the Student Enterprise Program and the Stock Market Game not only boost academic achievement but also instill practical financial skills that improve student attitudes, attendance, and behavior. The Center’s primary education programs include: • Susan Sargen Student Enterprise Program: An in-school mini-economy initiative serving approximately 5,000 urban students in Cincinnati annually. • Stock Market Game: This program introduces students in grades 4-12 to investing and financial education through virtual investing, connecting them to the global economy; 6,000 Ohio students participate each year. • $martPath: An award-winning, online financial education platform for K-8 students, with over 2.5 million users worldwide. • Ohio Personal Finance Challenge: A state-wide online competition for high school students to showcase their personal finance knowledge; 200-400 students participate annually. • Ohio Economics Challenge: Another online competition for high school students, focusing on economics knowledge, with 200-400 participants each year. • Teacher Training: Seminars, workshops, and independent studies for 300-600 elementary and high school educators annually. • Invest In Girls: A six-week program offering basic personal finance education to high school girls, delivered by women from regional financial businesses. Topics include taxes, credit cards, credit scores, and budgeting. As an affiliate of the Council for Economic Education, we are proud to have been named the #1 center among 200 nationwide—an honor that underscores our commitment to delivering high-quality, impactful programs. Our approach focuses on creating real-world connections for students, helping them understand essential concepts like budgeting, saving, investing, credit, and debt management.
