About This Cause
Keep Cincinnati Beautiful (KCB) is an award-winning affiliate of Keep America Beautiful. Our mission is to educate and encourage individuals to take greater responsibility for improving their community environment. KCB has been improving the Cincinnati landscape for over 30 years, and we’re still going strong. We strive to provide programs that are based on changing behavior and cultivating community pride, and we rely on public and private partnerships to fuel our mission and programs. We focus on providing sustainable results through grassroots initiatives and work to improve not only the environment in which we live, but the quality of our lives as well. KCB is led by a volunteer board and financially supported by individual and corporate donations, grants, foundations, and the City of Cincinnati. We are proud to be an award-winning affiliate of Keep America Beautiful. In June of 1978, we were incorporated as a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization. We started as The Cincinnati Clean Community Commission led by former Cincinnati City Council Member Helen Hinckley at the request of the City Manager, Bill Donaldson. Our goal was to promote litter prevention, recycling, community improvement and beautification through citizen action, education and strategic partnerships. Over the years, the name of our organization has changed, at first to Clean Cincinnati Inc., then to Keep Cincinnati Beautiful, Inc. to reflect our affiliation with Keep America Beautiful.
