Mission Statement
Hospice of the Panhandle provides professional medical care and volunteer support to people with end-stage illnesses. The Hospice of the Panhandle Center for Grief Support also provides grief support groups and counseling free of charge to anyone in the community.
About This Cause
Hospice is about not giving up what's important to you. Hospice care is about living the best way you can, despite serious illness. Hospice patients continue to live in their own homes, spend time with family and friends and do many of the things that they enjoy. Hospice patients benefit from a care team built to meet their needs and support available by phone 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. This care team is made up of physicians, nurses, home health aides, social workers, chaplains, grief counselors and volunteers. Care is received wherever the patient lives including in private homes, nursing facilities and assisted living communities. Hospice patients can avoid being hospitalized by having medical care available at home and being able to visit the Hospice of the Panhandle inpatient facility which provides hospital-like care in a personal setting when needed. Hospice patients covered by Medicare, WV Medicaid and most private insurance plans receive medicines & medical supplies which may include oxygen, hospital bed, wheelchair, walker and more.
