Mission Statement
PARACHUTE Butler County CASA's mission is to speak for the best interests of abused and neglected children (ages birth to 18) in court. We promote and support quality volunteer representation (CASA volunteers- Court Appointed Special Advocates) for children to provide each child with services to heal, educational success and a safe, permanent and nurturing home. This mission is met by activities including recruitment, training, supervision and evaluation of adult community CASA volunteers.
About This Cause
At PARACHUTE, we believe all children deserve to live in a safe, loving and permanent home. PARACHUTE: Butler County CASA is a non-profit, volunteer driven organization that recruits, trains and supervises community volunteers to work with abused and neglected children. CASA volunteers provide advocacy and a voice in court for children who are under the protective supervision of the court due to abuse, neglect, sexual abuse and abandonment. A CASA volunteer gets to know the child, interviews the family, relatives, foster parents, police, social workers and medical staff involved in the child’s life. The CASA volunteer monitors the child’s situation on a regular basis and identifies their needs for the court. A CASA volunteer’s goal for each child are: • SAFETY - Keep the child safe from further harm by visiting the child on a regular basis. • VOICE IN COURT - Provide the court with ongoing information about the child’s circumstances and recommendations for what’s in the child’s best interests. • HEALING FROM TRAUMA - Secure services to help the child heal from their trauma, services like counseling, medical care, tutoring and others. • SCHOOL SUCCESS - Help a younger child become ready for school and assist school age children to succeed academically. • SAFE, PERMANENT HOME - Assist the court in finding the child a safe, permanent and nurturing home with a better future. Since 1988 PARACHUTE has trained over 605 CASA volunteers who have provided life saving advocacy for over 2,750 local abused children. PARACHUTE is accredited by and a member in good standing in the Ohio CASA and National CASA Associations. With CASA volunteers assigned to abused children’s cases, we hope to be a beacon of hope and help to those children who need protection. We believe they can be safe from danger, live in stable loving homes, have success in school and better futures.
