Mission Statement
The mission of the United Way of Sumner County is to improve the quality of life in Sumner County as a place to grow up, raise a family, work, achieve our dreams, and to grow older.
About This Cause
We serve as the hub of a network that connects givers, advocates, and volunteers with local businesses, schools, government, and human service programs to make lives better and our community stronger. We identify and address current needs by funding more than 35 non-profit programs chosen for their expertise to specifically target local issues. Working together, we collaborate to develop long-term strategies that will eliminate the causes of the issues facing our residents and improve the quality of life in Sumner County for all of us. Collectively with our partners, we serve more than 70,000 clients each year. These various nonprofits work with residents of all ages, ranging from premature babies to the elderly. The majority of our funded partners run on a skeleton crew, therefore making it difficult to both raise money & serve their clients simultaneously. This is where United Way steps in and lends the helping hand, providing the funds they need to operate these programs, allowing them to focus on bettering the lives of others.
