The Los Angeles Community Garden Council strengthens communities by building and supporting community gardens where every person in Los Angeles County can grow healthy food in their neighborhood.

About This Cause

Founded in 1998, Los Angeles Community Garden Council manages 42 community gardens and offers community organizing and gardening support to more than 125 community gardens, serving more than 6,000 families throughout Los Angeles County. Community gardens benefit local communities by: - Creating more green space - Encouraging healthy lifestyles through diet and exercise - Reducing household expenses - Teaching organic gardening skills - Sharing best urban agriculture practices - Encouraging cross-cultural and cross-generational relationships - Promoting social and economic justice - Reducing crime in the neighborhood - Building more resilient communities We have waitlists for all of our community gardens and are constantly seeking more land to enable more people to grow their own healthy food in their neighborhood.
