Mission Statement
A Rocha is an international Christian conservation organization engaged in ecological awareness and habitat improvement in 20 countries. We approach conservation, environmental education, and research from local, community-focused contexts to improve the wellbeing of both people and places.
About This Cause
Our mission at A Rocha is to inspire and equip Christians to know and love their local places through practical, community-focused conservation. We work to foster a deeper understanding and love of the places we live, work, and learn. Our aim is to help Christians better understand our place in God’s full creation and our responsibilities to help it flourish. Specifically, we engage churches, schools, neighborhood groups, and individuals to provide three primary services: -Community-based Conservation -Environmental Education -Scientific Research Our name {uh RAW sha} is Portuguese for “the rock” and is titled for an actual place in the Algarve region of southern Portugal where A Rocha got its start. Since the early 1980’s, A Rocha has grown to include 20 countries internationally.
