Mission Statement
To provide comprehensive care for the body, mind, and spirit of individuals living with MS.
About This Cause
The Multiple Sclerosis Center of Southwest Florida is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that has served the community since 2000. Its mission is to provide comprehensive care for the body, mind, and spirit of those affected by multiple sclerosis in Southwest Florida. MS patients suffer from chronic pain and debilitating fatigue. Many of the patients have limited mobility and difficulty walking. Over 30% require an assistive device such as a wheelchair. These limitations make it more likely that they will experience isolation, especially during the pandemic. The MS Center is a place for those living with MS to be with others who have MS, and to take advantage of the center’s social interaction and wellness programs. Services include MS-focused exercise classes, art therapy, support groups, and educational activities. In addition to the online exercise classes, mental health counseling and case management is available to clients. The counselors are skilled at helping people learn coping skills and to reduce anxiety. The case managers are experienced in connecting people with vital resources in this time of need. The MS Center is not a chapter of a national organization, and relies on donations to provide help for the growing MS community in Southwest Florida. Southwest Florida is a five-county area which include the cities of Naples, Bonita Springs, Fort Myers, and Cape Coral.
