Mission Statement

Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation is a non-profit animal rescue organization saving the lives of thousands of homeless and abandoned pets. We rescue dogs and cats facing euthanasia in overcrowded shelters, and place them for adoption in loving homes. ALL of our animals are spayed or neutered prior to adoption.

About This Cause

Since 2001, Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation has saved the lives of more than 25,000 dogs and cats. Our mission is to rescue pets from the threat of euthanasia at overcrowded shelters and place them in loving homes. Prior to being made available for adoption all of our animals (even puppies and kittens) are spayed or neutered, properly vaccinated and appropriately tested. Many animals come to us with medical needs requiring expensive treatments such as orthopedic surgery, heart worm treatment, and dental cleaning and surgery. Donations allow LDCRF to provide proper diagnostic testing and appropriate care, even when the cost far exceeds the amount that will be recovered by the adoption fee. Animals stay with LDCRF for as long as it takes them to find a loving, permanent home. Most stay at the Lost Dog Ranch on 63 rural acres, while many others are placed in foster homes throughout the DC Metro area. Each weekend, LDCRF hosts ten adoption events, averaging 50 adoptions per weekend. All administrative and adoption activities are conducted by volunteers, with only the direct care staff at the Lost Dog Ranch receiving salaries.
