Mission Statement

Since its inception in 2001, the Cincinnati Reds Community Fund (RCF) has used baseball as a vehicle to enrich the lives of youth and to further develop the community. As an independent 501(c)3 non-profit affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds, the RCF strives to create free-of-charge programming that connects underserved children ages 4-18 to baseball & softball while providing educational and enrichment opportunities to help improve their futures.

About This Cause

The RCF has come a long way from the first outreach initiative implemented back in 2003. We have always been ahead of youth sport trends and continue to develop programming that benefits youth and our community. The RCF impacts over 50,000 kids and coaches from seven states annually. Over $2 million is invested into nine outreach initiatives on a yearly basis. Every RCF outreach program is developed with the same three objectives at its core: • Grow interest in the games of baseball and softball • Develop talent (primarily within the inner city) • Elevate the athlete’s skill level both on and off the field RCF Outreach Programs consist of: - P&G MLB Cincinnati Reds Youth Academy: state-of-the-art, year-round training complex for children ages four to eighteen. - Reds Youth Baseball and Softball Funding: since 2005, the number of teams hosted has increased from 9 to over 600 annually. - Reds Coaches Education and Training: efforts to recruit prospective coaches and to educate existing coaches in the urban-core. - Fun at Bat: focuses on baseball principles and character development for children pre-K to fifth grade. - Match: pairs urban and suburban youth organizations together for special events. - Greater Cincinnati RBI: provides young people from diverse communities with the opportunity to play baseball and softball, encourage academic success, and teach the value of teamwork. - Field Renovation: since 2006, more than $8 million has been invested into fields throughout Reds Country. - Community Makeover: project between P&G, Cincinnati Zoo, Cincinnati Children's and the Reds to upgrade a school or community center, an outdoor playground or garden, and a neighborhood ball field. - Home Base: provides high school sophomores, juniors and seniors a week-long, overnight on-campus experience.
