Mission Statement
Our Mission: To demonstrate Christian compassion to poverty-bound Haitian children and their families, providing opportunities for these children to become leaders in their homes, churches, and communities. Child Education: Since 1995, Hope for Haiti's Children (HFHC) has helped to establish and fund the construction of 10 Christian school facilities in partnership with local Haitian churches of Christ. Our schools serve over 2,475 Haitian children. Of the 2,475 children enrolled, over 1,500 are HFHC sponsored! Orphan Care: Hope for Haiti's Children began its efforts to care for orphans in 1998 at the Cazeau Christian Orphanage in Port-au-Prince in partnership with local Christian leaders. Currently, 72 orphans are provided with safe housing, meals, clothing, and medical care at the orphanage. Our second orphanage, the Thomazeau Christian Orphanage, officially opened in January 2012. In 2016, 12 wonderful children call this orphanage "home."
About This Cause
Hope For Haiti's Children® (HFHC) is a Christian, non-profit organization prayerfully launched in 1995 by Ken Bever who remains President of HFHC. Ken labored, along with some highly dedicated volunteers, to establish an education program for Haitian children to receive a Christian education. That first year HFHC found sponsors for 12 students. Today, there are over 2,400 children sponsored in ten different schools associated with churches of Christ in central and southern Haiti. In addition to our education efforts, HFHC operates an orphanage which is home to 60 children. As part of a comprehensive ten-year program called Project Hope 2030, our supported schools have already received funds for lunch programs, water cisterns, and facility repair/expansion. Leadership training and vocational programs are also supported through this program. Each year HFHC organizes and hosts an Annual Child Care Clinic mission trip to provide medical exams to all of our sponsored children. During the year, ongoing medical care is made available to our sponsored children through a school nurses and visits to the doctor when needed. When crisis such as hurricanes, tropical storms, flooding, or earthquake strike Haiti, our Crisis Relief efforts provide food staples to starving families, rebuild homes destroyed by natural disasters, and offer general assistance where needed. Hope for Haiti’s Children Ministries, Inc.®is a 501(c)(3) organization, and all contributions are tax deductible as allowed by law. HFHC pledges prayerful and efficient stewardship of your donations. We insist on independent annual audits to ensure compliance with the law, accuracy in accounting, and maximum efficiency in the use of all donated funds. Every effort is made to keep overhead costs low allowing us to make the most of every dollar we receive. HFHC has been rated a Charity Navigator 4-Star Charity and a Guidestar Gold-level Charity. In 2023, we spent 82% of our total revenue on program services which directly benefit our sponsored children and orphans. HFHC allocates all $36/month that a child education sponsor contributes directly to help their sponsored child. No monies are taken out for fundraising or for U.S. administrative expenses. Your pledges and donations begin by benefiting a child, but then continue on to benefit the child's family, strengthen a school and influence a community.
