More than 10,000 scientists, engineers, researchers, manufacturers, plant personnel, educators, students, marketing and sales professionals from more than 70 countries make up the members of The American Ceramic Society. The mission of the CGIF is to ensure that the industry is able to attract and train the highest quality talent available to work with engineered systems and products that utilize ceramic and glass materials.
About This Cause
Since 1898, The American Ceramic Society (ACerS) has been the hub of the global ceramics community and one of the most trusted sources of ceramic materials & applications knowledge. The Society has grown to more than 11,000 members consisting of scientists, engineers, researchers, manufacturers, plant personnel, educators, students, marketing, and sales professionals from more than 70 countries—with 40% of members based outside of the United States. Today, the Society provides knowledge and forums to members who are shaping the way we think about materials science. From bricks, to cell phones and appliances, to space shuttle tiles and green technology, the members of the Society are leading advancements in ceramic technologies that keep people safe and warm, explore and discover new frontiers, and save lives. The American Ceramic Society is proud to be a conduit for these initiatives. The Ceramic and Glass Industry Foundation (CGIF) was established by The American Ceramic Society in 2014 to attract, inspire, and train the next generation of ceramic and glass professionals. The Ceramic and Glass Industry Foundation was established as an Ohio Nonprofit Single Member Limited Liability Company and contributions to the CGIF are fully tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. The CGIF is wholly owned by The American Ceramic Society, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, and is treated as a disregarded entity for federal tax purposes. Since its inception, the CGIF has launched programs in student outreach, international student exchanges, travel grants, student leadership development, a university-industry network, and its online Ceramic and Glass Career Center.
