Mission Statement
The West Central Illinois Health Corporation (formerly known as Cass County Health Corporation) is the new “umbrella” corporate entity covering the Cass County Health Department in West Central Illinois.
About This Cause
The health department now offers over 30 programs and touches the life of every resident in our county in some way. The health department ensures safe food and drinking water, provides immunizations, family planning services, nutritional supplements to pregnant women and infants, health screenings, after-school programming, home health and hospice service, and so much more. The health department is funded through grants, program fees, and our local tax levy. Services are provided on a sliding-fee scale based on income, and we work to ensure that everyone receives needed services regardless of their ability to pay. The local tax levy makes up only 4% of the overall budget. No tax money is used to support the home health or hospice programs at all. The health department found it necessary to form an umbrella organization to gather financial support to provide for the ever-expanding use of health department services.
