Mission Statement

iBIO Institute's mission is to deliver industry-led STEM programs that inspire the next generation of innovators and help to diversify the STEM talent pipeline. The STEMgirls Summer Camp connects girls with the real world of STEM through hands-on engineering activities, interaction with STEM professionals, STEM-related field trips and interdisciplinary problem-centered learning experiences. Our take-home STEM Kits, launched to encourage students to explore STEM during the COVID-19 pandemic have provided 16,000 hands-on STEM experiences since 2020.

About This Cause

Since 2016, STEMgirls Summer Camps, held in Waukegan and Red Bud, IL have provided 5-days of fun, hands-on activities, field trips and engagement with STEM professionals for over 2,200 girls. The STEMgirls summer camps are designed to spark girls' interest in pursuing STEM. STEMgirls camps successfully increased girls' positive feelings for STEM activities, increased their familiarity with STEM careers, and had broad strong support from families. Further, students from both camps increased their interest in pursuing a STEM career after they leave school. In 2020, iBIO also launched a take-home hands-on STEM Kit program, which has provided 16,000 hands-on STEM kits for students in high-needs schools across the Chicagoland area including North Chicago.
