Mission Statement
Friends of Waters was created to raise money meant to supplement the funding Thomas J. Waters Elementary School receives from the Chicago Public School (CPS) system. Working collaboratively and respectfully with our administration and faculty, we strive to enrich the educational experience of our students while fostering a vibrant and supportive school community.
About This Cause
Waters Elementary School (a Chicago Public School) serves approximately 630 students from many different ethnicities, cultures and economic levels. Forty-five percent of our students are minority, and 30% qualify for free/reduced lunch. We are proud that over 15 languages are spoken in the homes of Waters students. As a neighborhood school in a very diverse area, we take great pride in the richness diversity adds. The school is a shining light of the community, and the Ecology Program and Gardens are universally beloved.
