Non-profit animal welfare organization devoted to helping dogs in critical need find medical treatment, spay/neuter services and quality adoptive homes in the US and Mexico. Also focus on spay-neuter of feral cats, TNR in central Virginia and rehoming of rescued kittens.
About This Cause
Lost Dog Foundation is based in Virginia, USA, but focuses efforts on areas in the Yucatan of Mexico where problems are rampant with street dog and cat overpopulation. Funds raised go to fund and sponsor spay/neuter for homeless animals and to assist pet owners with free or subsidized spay/neuter in areas of Quintana Roo and Yucatan, Mexico. LDF works with various independent veterinarians, other animal welfare organizations, and local rescuers. LDF also assists with flight fees, medical vetting and supplies, food and general care for some animals in the care of partner rescues in the area. In the US, Lost Dog Foundation is extremely active in neighborhood "TNR" efforts to curb the feral and stray cat population in the city of Richmond, VA and surrounding counties. More than 600 cats are safely trapped, sterilized and vaccinated and released each year to help keep the homeless cat population at a minimum. More than 150 kittens (and some adults) each year are also rescued during these efforts and rehabilitated and adopted to loving homes. LDF relies on sponsored spay & neutered appointments to fuel these TNR efforts and all contributions are appreciated. LDF also works in the US to help dogs be transported along the east coast from high kill shelters to rescues and foster homes that can give them new lives. LDF works locally in central Virginia to help dogs and cats in critical need through donating for spay/neuter and vaccinations.
