Mission Statement

We are a network of friends, growing in holiness and building a more just world through personal relationships with and service to people in need. We provide hope to those in need through our actions.

About This Cause

Since 1911, SVDPNKY has served the NKY community by providing life’s basic necessities to our neighbors in need. Our services focus on rent and utility assistance, food, clothing, furniture, housewares and medical equipment to anyone demonstrating a financial hardship. We also have seasonal programs supplying fans and air conditioners to people with documented life-threatening diseases of asthma, COPD, lung cancer, etc. We distribute winter coats annually and provide beds to children, the disabled and seniors. We are the only agency in NKY that provides the fans/AC and bed programs as a direct service, and the only bed program that provides beds year round. SVDPNKY also operates food pantries at the Erlanger headquarters and at 30 parish locations throughout the Diocese of Covington. St. Vincent de Paul of NKY has four thrift store locations: Erlanger, Cold Spring, Florence and Falmouth. Vincentians provide vouchers to clients needing clothes, furniture and medical supplies. Open to the public, revenues from store sales help sustain the services we offer. In-home visits by parish-level volunteers or Vincentians help evaluate the family’s needs and determine how we can best serve them in the areas of rent and utility assistance, clothing and food. We refer them to other local agencies for services that we do not provide. These visits allow the Vincentian to provide the client with spiritual support and love. Vouchers allow the clients to come to the thrift stores and select needed items with dignity. Interacting with volunteers and staff provide some hope that may be missing in their homes. One of our goals is early intervention with the hope of preventing homelessness for our clients. During the last fiscal year (10/1/21-9/30/22), SVDPNKY provided assistance to over 44,000 in need. The overall value of all services was in excess of $4.8 million. Over 530 Vincentian volunteers committed 20,000 hours in service to our neighbors for those in need, including making over 7,000 home, hospital and eldercare visits in NKY. Most of the men, women and families that we serve are living at or below the poverty level in Boone, Kenton, Campbell, Carroll, Grant, Bracken and Pendleton counties in NKY. We also serve those who are disabled and those who are experiencing a time of crisis, such as victims of fire and natural disasters, or who have become unemployed. The majority of our clients are female head of household between the ages of 30 and 50 years of age. We also serve those who are disabled and those who are experiencing a time of crisis, such as victims of fire and natural disasters, and those who have become unemployed. SVDNKY does not deny service, nor provide preferential service, based on a client’s religious affiliation or any other demographic. We refer them to other local agencies for services that we do not provide.
