Mission Statement
Like the group's motto says, "If I can do this, I can do anything." Our group provides snow ski instruction to disabled individuals. The program is formulated around two philosophies: First, that a person's abilities far outweigh their disabilities and second, that a mainstreamed lifestyle in recreation can be the catalyst for a better overall quality of life. The DSUSA - OC program is comprised of caring individuals - all of whom are volunteers.
About This Cause
Charity funds for the group will be used to provide improved or additional ski equipment to our students. Our group is unique in that our disabled students receive free instruction, free use of the ski area facilities, and, in most cases, free use of group equipment is provided. The only costs to our students involves a small membership fee, food and lodging, and transportation to Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort. During the winter season, instructional trips are scheduled on a monthly basis.
