Mission Statement
Irvine Children’s Fund Mission Before And After School Child Care The Irvine Children’s Fund (ICF) is a non-profit whose mission is to raise funds – primarily through grants and the Irvine Junior Games – to provide scholarships to LOW INCOME, WORKING FAMILIES for before and after school child care, to expand and maintain child care facilities located on all elementary schools in Irvine, CA and to support child wellness services. The child care programs are located on all 29 elementary schools in Irvine, CA. Children in transitional kindergarten through 6th grade can go safely to and from home, school and child care. The child care programs are open from 7 am – 6 pm Monday through Friday including school holidays and summers. Child care is a key component to working families being able to go to work knowing their children are in a nurturing and educational environment. The child care programs work closely with the schools and teachers to meet the needs of the children. The child care is state licensed and meets all state and federal licensing requirements including accessibility for children with disabilities. FUNDRAISING EVENT – ANNUAL IRVINE JUNIOR GAMES The annual Irvine Junior Games is a fundraising track and field event with over 1,300 athletes in 4th – 8th grade from 37 Irvine Unified School District elementary and middle schools. The Irvine Junior Games bring together the community, families, corporations and schools to raise money for before and after school child care. The Irvine Junior Games include events for children with special needs and children in adapted PE. For 35 years, the Irvine Junior Games have served as the primary fundraising event for the Irvine Children’s Fund and encourages the participation of elementary and middle school children in athletics and promote a healthy lifestyle. More than 75 corporate and individual gold, silver, bronze and spirit team sponsors proudly support the Irvine Junior Games and generously contribute to help ICF reach our fundraising goal of $400,000 for before and after school child care scholarships for low income, working families. The money raised will provide before and after school child care scholarships for low income, working families. The Irvine Children’s fund is a nonprofit with the purpose of raising funds to: • Provide quality, affordable, safe and accessible before and after school child care for children in kindergarten through 6th grade. • Provide child are scholarships for low income, working families • Assist with funds to expand, maintain and enrich the 29 child care sites. The track and field event provides funds for before and after school child care for low-income, working families. Working families who are in low paying jobs. The child care is provided on all 29 elementary school sites located in Irvine CA. Since 1986, The Irvine Children’s Fund, through the Irvine Junior Games and grants, has raised over $4M to meet our child care mission including $3.1M for before and after school child care scholarships for low income, working families.
About This Cause
The Irvine Children's Fund was founded in 1986 to provide funding for before and after school child care for low income, working families. The child care is provided on all 29 elementary schools in the Irvine Unified School District in Irvine, CA. The child care programs are under the supervision of the Irvine Child Care Project, a joint powers authority between the City of Irvine and the Irvine Unified School District. The program began with 6 child care sites, Through fundraising there is child care available both before and after school year round including holidays and summer at all 29 elementary schools in Irvine. Child care is available from transitional kindergarten through 6th grade. Children can go safely to and from home, school and child care. The child care programs meet all state and federal guidelines and meet the ADA guidelines. No other city or school district has partnered to make such a comprehensive school age child care program. The Irvine Children's Fund raises funds to provide child care scholarships for low income, working families. Families who work hard but are in low paying jobs. The child care is on a sliding scale basis according to HUD funding rules. The families receive a scholarship for 50%, 70% or 90% and the family pays the remaining fee. Each child care program works with the elementary school principal and teachers in a comprehensive program to meet the needs of the enrolled children. This partnership provides safe, affordable and accessible child care for all working families and ensures a nurturing and educational child care program. This before and after school child care program makes it possible for low income, working families to be in a safe and licensed child care program.
