Mission Statement
To provide the resources to foster music literacy in San Diego County schools through the use of computer technology and hands-on instructional tools, and offering workshop instruction in Human Values in Educations through the HopeBlit program. Hope B~Lit is an integrated approach to education which brings forth the inherent human values for promoting academic excellence and enabling them to be good citizens in the real, dynamic world.
About This Cause
The Bayfield Foundation is an educational 501(c)3 charity involved in inculcating music literacy and human values through its two main projects - MusIQ Club and HopeBlit. The MusIQ Club initiative began in 2008 with the initial music/math program in the Sweetwater Union High School District for middle school remedial math students who showed an average of 17% additional increase in math test scores over those who were not involved in the music program. The initiative continues with the Sweetwater District at the Stephen W. Hawking Charter School early learning centers for K-5 students during 2014-2015 with results to be published soon. MusIQ Club is a program for teaching music literacy using the PC and keyboard. The learning model includes a course instructor who provides in-class guidance in course curricula based on Royal Conservatory Standards. Hope B-Lit was founded in 2008 in Los Angeles, CA with the aim of promoting academic excellence and improving the quality of life in the students through values-based education. Our organization is completely driven by volunteers made up of young working professionals and students. For the past 5 years, we have conducted approximately 100 high-quality workshops based on the core human values - Love, Truth, Non-Violence, Right Action, and Peace. These workshops have had profound impacts in students' lives. We have observed that students witness enhanced confidence, self-esteem, social skills, creativity, and tolerance towards others.
