Mission Statement
OMI Cultural Participation Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in San Francisco, California and serving the Lakeview/OMI, Excelsior, Outer Mission and Crocker Amazon neighborhoods. We received our nonprofit status on April 7th, 2004 from the State of California: our EIN is 33-1090268. We produce and support vibrant programs and events for the general public, including festivals, workshops, concerts, and exhibitions that amplify multicultural vibrancy. We strive to create an environment where youth, seniors and families from underserved/urban communities can be exposed to artistic and cultural institutions in the San Francisco Bay Area, without financial and socioeconomic barriers. We are committed to bridging the gap, for good. We have an ambitious vision: imagine, invent, inspire. Between collaboration, shared values, development of BIPOC leadership and community activism, we are prioritizing the greater good for generations to come. We strive to strengthen our capacity and enhance our ability to serve our community effectively and dynamically. We look forward to the possibility of working together, to strengthen our organization and create a lasting impact in our community. Our mission at OMI Cultural Participation Project is to promote unity and celebrate diversity within the San Francisco District 11 community, and by creating and supporting artistic, cultural, social, educational, and community events, with a priority on Black, Latino and Asian/Pacific Islander communities. The core values of OMI-CPP are: equity and inclusiveness of all community residents, respect for individual differences and ethnic diversity, and unity of commitment and purpose. We are harnessing the power of arts, community and culture to improve communities across San Francisco District 11.
