We exist to remove the barriers that prevent individuals and families from receiving the healing they need—regardless of income, background, or belief. By equipping individuals, strengthening marriages, and supporting families, we aim to transform communities and cultivate resilience, hope, and purpose in every life we touch.
About This Cause
Shield Bearer Counseling Centers is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Texas that provides affordable, professional, and faith-informed mental health services to individuals, couples, and families from all walks of life. We serve thousands of clients each year, many of whom are in crisis, navigating trauma, or seeking restoration in their marriages, families, or personal lives. We believe that mental health care is not a luxury—it is a vital part of human flourishing. And yet, for millions of Americans, mental health support remains out of reach due to cost, stigma, or lack of access. That’s where Shield Bearer steps in. We remove those barriers. What We Do We provide licensed, clinically sound, evidence-based counseling to individuals, couples, teens, children, and families. We support veterans, first responders, abuse survivors, struggling marriages, caregivers, those experiencing grief, anxiety, depression, and trauma. We serve clients who cannot afford to pay market rates for counseling, offering a sliding scale and donor-funded support. We train future counselors and provide continuing education to professionals. We partner with churches, schools, and community groups to strengthen families and promote long-term emotional, relational, and spiritual health. Why It Matters Every person is created with dignity and a deep desire for connection, healing, and purpose. But without support, wounds fester—impacting marriages, parenting, workplaces, and communities. Mental illness, addiction, divorce, abuse, and trauma continue to grow—and families are too often left alone to figure it out. We believe healing should never be reserved for the wealthy or the lucky. Shield Bearer exists so that no one has to walk through darkness alone. A Proven, Compassionate, Faith-Guided Approach Our licensed counselors are highly trained in evidence-based modalities such as CBT, EMDR, IFS, and DBT, and we integrate psychological excellence with a spiritually grounded, person-centered approach. While our foundation is rooted in a Christian worldview, we serve people of all faiths, or no faith at all, with compassion, professionalism, and respect.
