Mission Statement
Our mission at Veterans Foundation Relief is to support and empower Veterans in their transition to civilian life by providing access to essential resources, safe housing, mental health support, recreation, and a strong community. Founded by a U.S. Navy Veteran who personally experienced the long, difficult journey of re-entering society, we are committed to ensuring that no Veteran has to walk that path alone. Through practical assistance, outreach programs, and recreational activities that restore connection and purpose, we aim to help Veterans not just survive—but truly live again. At the heart of everything we do is a promise: to stand by those who served, and to build a future where every Veteran can heal, recover, and thrive. “Being of service to Veterans in all areas of their lives. Helping them transition to a normal lifestyle, and leave behind trauma and pain in order to find happiness and fulfillment.” Eugene Martin U.S. Navy Veteran, V.F.R. Founder
About This Cause
Veterans Foundation Relief (V.F.R.) is a nonprofit organization founded by a U.S. Navy Veteran with one goal: to ensure that those who served our country can find happiness and success in their return to civilian life. After experiencing firsthand the emotional, psychological, and practical challenges of post-military reintegration, our founder Eugene Martin dedicated his life to helping fellow Veterans access the support they need — not just to survive, but to live full, meaningful lives. At V.F.R., we believe that the path to healing begins with compassion, connection, and action. Our organization works on the ground in the Los Angeles area and beyond, directly supporting Veterans through three core areas: Essential Needs: We assist Veterans in finding safe and affordable housing, access to healthy food, clean clothing, and reliable transportation. Information & Resource Navigation: Veterans face an impenetrable maze when trying to access the benefits they earned. We guide them through the VA system, connect them with federal and nonprofit services, and help them apply for everything from disability benefits to education programs and mental health treatment. Community & Recreation: Healing requires more than synthetic drugs. We host and support a variety of recreational programs: from open mic music sessions to spiritual study lunches, field trips, and even Veteran sports leagues. These events foster community, reduce isolation, and help Veterans rediscover their identity beyond the uniform. Our Impact Since our founding in January 2025, V.F.R. has already made meaningful contributions to the Veteran community: - Donated musical instruments and sound equipment to Veterans Open Mic Mondays at the West L.A. VA, providing an outlet for expression and emotional healing. - Launched a monthly spiritual study session and community lunch, with our first event bringing over 30 Veterans together in reflection and fellowship. - Partnered with other Veteran-focused groups, like Vets Whole in One, to support recreational outings such as the WPGA Golf Tournament — giving Veterans a chance to bond, decompress, and have some fun. - Launched a mobility campaign to provide 10 electric wheelchairs to local disabled Veterans, enabling greater freedom and independence. We operate with full transparency and integrity — every donation and partnership directly contributes to visible, trackable outcomes in the lives of real Veterans. Whether through one-on-one support, public outreach, or event collaboration, we are building a movement rooted in empathy and respect. Join Us We welcome partnerships with businesses, donors, volunteers, and other nonprofits who believe that supporting Veterans is not charity — it’s a duty. Whether through financial contributions, donated goods, venue access, or simply spreading awareness, you can play a vital role in helping us help those who’ve already given so much.
