About This Cause
In 1979, Wood Lane Residential Services (WLRS) began, as a division of the Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities (WCBDD), with the mission of providing the highest quality of residential services to individuals with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities. What began as providing services in three group homes just outside of the Bowling Green, Ohio area, grew over the next 20 years to include multiple residential settings throughout Northwest Ohio and Wood County. As regulatory requirements changed regarding providing residential services, WLRS became a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) agency in 2000. In 2016, WLRS expanded its services to meet the growing needs that the individuals we serve began requesting and truly needed to live a normal life. In addition to residential services, WLRS also now provides a variety of programming, tools and services focused on helping these individuals with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities, who are members of our community, the opportunity to live and lead as normal lives as they possibly can. WLRS promotes independent living and overall wellness with a person-centered approach to each individual that we serve.
