Mission Statement
Cornerstone of Hope is a non-profit bereavement center serving grieving children, teens and adults.
About This Cause
Cornerstone of Hope is dedicated to providing support, education and hope for the grieving. Individuals and families who seek support after the death of a loved one come to Cornerstone of Hope to take advantage of a variety of programs that include the following: grief counseling, art therapy, summer youth camps, memorial services, creative workshops, resource library, education and professional training, crisis intervention, school outreach, workplace intervention, and our most successful support group programs. Our support groups are offered by age (children, teens and adults) or by type of loss (suicide loss, young widows, loss of child, murder loss, miscarriage, and much more). A majority of our programs are offerred FREE of charge. We do have a small "sliding fee scale" for individual counseling; however, no one is ever denied services for their inability to pay. Cornerstone of Hope was founded by Christi and Mark Tripodi in 2003. The Tripodi's personal experience of losing their son, Bobby, suddently to bacterial meningitis in May of 2000 was the impetus behind starting Cornerstone of Hope. Founder Christi Tripodi said, "It was exhausting to try to find help for my husband and myself and our other children. It shouldn't be this difficult! We need a place! A place where those who are grieving can go and find everything under one roof: counseling, suppports groups, a good book, help for their kids, etc." Mark Tripodi added, "Cornerstone of Hope was never an emotional response to Bobby's death, but a devotional response to God's call to do something unique and special. I heard God's voice deep inside my heart saying 'Do not waste this pain.' and my wife heard, 'We need a place.' "Today, we are proud to say that Cornerstone of Hope is that special place where the pain of grief is not wasted, but is transformed. Cornerstone of Hope is today what we would have wanted in May of 2000 when our son died." Cornerstone of Hope was featured on national television in January of 2014. Hit series Treehouse Masters on Animal Planet network featured Cornerstone of Hope on an episode titled "Wild Butterfly Escape." This newly created therapeutic space in the trees will be a welcomed addition to the center in Independence, Ohio just 10 miles south of downtown Cleveland. Cornerstone of Hope opened a second office in Columbus, Ohio to serve the central Ohio communities. The Columbus office has been opened since 2011.
