Mission Statement

Helping families transition from homelessness to permanent housing

About This Cause

Helping families gain housing and economic stability through direct financial subsidy, and on-going wrap around housing services is the core of our work! Leading Families Home (LFH) seamless, comprehensive spectrum of quality programs include: Beach House Family Shelter (BHFS), Rapid Rehousing (RRH), Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH), Employment Solutions, Family Advocacy, and SSI Ohio Project. History: Beach House Family Shelter was founded in 1921 when Mrs. Helen (Beach) Jones – wife of former Toledo mayor Samuel "Golden Rule" Jones recognized the need to establish a shelter for women & children who were being housed in the Lagrange Street jail. Working with several local women’s organizations, Mrs. Jones helped to establish a shelter for homeless single women & women with children. Due to increased need & in order to keep families together, in the early 1980’s, Beach House began to include homeless intact families & single fathers with children. FOCUS was founded in 1982, based on the tradition of faith & service by interdenominational faith-based organizations in the Old West End neighborhood of Toledo, Ohio, in response to growing community needs for services such as longer-term supportive housing, food & social support. In 2016, Beach House, Inc. and FOCUS merged to become Leading Families Home. Together, we are solving family homelessness in Toledo!
