Mission Statement
To put Christian principles into practice to benefit all Shelby County residents through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
About This Cause
The vision of the Y is be the hub of community activity and the recognized leader in lifelong health and wellness where children are nurtured through character development, teens are empowered, families grow stronger and older adults are engaged. Programs range from aquatics, youth sports, and gymnastics to older adult programming, group exercise and special wellness events/programs including a Parkinson's exercise program. We are known for our 3 gymnasiums, fitness center, and swimming pool, but the Y is so much more. We have an onsite child development center which serves over 200 children and families, a child-watch service for members, and an extensive youth center with recreational opportunities including the only indoor rock climbing wall in Shelby County. Additionally, we are the only YMCA in the country with an Acrobatics team which boasts a 2-time national gold medal in men's pairs. And we are proud to host the Super Stars Cheer Team, a non-competitive exhibition team which is open to any youth or young adult with a special need at no cost to the participant. We provide financial assistance to those in need to further the mission of serving all in Shelby County regardless of their financial circumstances.
