Humane Indiana Area's mission is "To lead the community in the humane treatment of all animals." HI does this by working individually and in partnership with similar valued organizations, we will create a humane community for all animals through education, advocacy, and the promotion of respect and compassion.

About This Cause

Humane Indiana, Inc. is a group of non-profit subsidiaries who fulfills the organization's mission in a unique way. The subsidiaries include: HI Adoption and Intake Centers, Estelle Marcus Animal Clinic, Paws Resale Shoppe, and Moraine Ridge Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. HI Adoption & Intake Center - The focus of HI, LLC is to provide shelter, food, and medical care for orphaned and unwanted animals while finding them loving, permanent homes. Estelle Marcus Animal Clinic, LLC - Estelle Marcus Animal Clinic opened in late 2011 as a vision of benefactor Estelle Marcus. The clinic offers low-cost, high-quality veterinary services to those who would otherwise not be able to afford veterinary care for their pets. The clinic also provides spay/neuter services to shelters, rescues, and animal control agencies. Paws Resale Shoppe, LLC - Since opening in 2004, Paws has raised over $500,000 to provide care for the animals at the HSCA Adoption Center. Conveniently located just south of the 80-94 Expressway on Kennedy Avenue in Highland, Paws Resale Shoppe has everything you need to furnish a dorm, apartment, or home. From gently used bedroom sets to decors and dishes, Paws can help you make your space cozy and beautiful. Paws also sells jewelry, toys, books, and other items at great prices. Humane Indiana Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, - Formerly Moraine Ridge Wildlife Rehabilitation center is located in Valparaiso on two acres. It was originally founded in 2002 by wildlife veterinarians and enthusiasts. On July 1, 2014, HIW opened its doors to intake injured and orphaned native Indiana mammals, birds, and reptiles. Indiana DNR State and USFWC Federal Permits allow MRWRC to rehabilitate all native wildlife. They provide rescue, transport, and rehabilitation services to Lake, Porter, LaPorte, and surrounding counties. Wildlife and environmental education programs are available to schools, churches, civic and other groups. Volunteer and internship opportunities are available.
