OUR MISSION To provide, through the power of Jesus Christ, a home for the homeless, food for the hungry, and hope for their future. OUR VISION To transform lives through the love of Jesus Christ. The Rescue Mission has been serving the Fort Wayne community since 1903. As a faith-based, nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization, The Rescue Mission seeks to provide real change to individuals facing a homelessness crisis by meeting basic needs and offering therapeutic programming that reaches the root causes of homelessness, including mental illness, trauma, and lack of support. All programming is rooted in the Gospel and restoring dignity to those served. Programming begins for many men and women with the necessities The Rescue Mission provides, such as food and shelter through an onsite kitchen and emergency shelter, as well as hygiene, clothing, and personal items. These services meet tangible needs of vulnerable individuals while serving as a low-barrier first touchpoint at the same time. Once a man or woman begins using any service at The Rescue Mission, they can enter a structured 3 to 18-month-long program in as little as four days. When an individual joins one of these programs, they gain the support they need to move from crisis to stability through dedicated case managers, client-directed programming, new support systems, and access to critical resources, including medical help and vocational training. The Rescue Mission includes four major programs: Restoration House, Charis House, Treasure House, and Life House (with the Outreach Program included under this program umbrella). In the last fiscal year, The Rescue Mission served 2,054 unique individuals, provided 329,739 meals, and provided 115,888 nights of safe shelter. Additionally, The Rescue Mission as a whole provided over 6,000 other services such as blankets, medical services, classes, and training to nonprogram individuals, including a total of 1,130 first-time guests.
