Mission Statement
Our mission is to grow tennis in Evansville and increase opportunities for youth and adults to participate in tennis programs, leagues, and events.
About This Cause
Evansville Community Tennis Association (ECTA) is a 501©3 non-profit. ECTA, Evansville NJTL, and the Evansville Tennis Center (ETC) aim to provide tennis and pickleball to our community. Our facilities, both the Evansville Tennis Center (indoor) and Wesselman Tennis Center (outdoor) are open to the public year-round. ECTA has invested nearly $5 million into both facilities and continues to re-invest into the community. Our events, tournaments, programs, classes, and facilities serve over 3,000 players annually. Since 2012, ECTA has an estimated economic impact of $4.1 million. The mission of ECTA is simple; to grow tennis in our Evansville community. ECTA helps organize and run USTA Adult Leagues, Junior Team Tennis Middle School Leagues, Tournaments, and many more events each year. ETC is community friendly, offering Junior, Individual, and Family memberships. Most of our Junior and Adult classes and programs are open to members (at a discounted rate) and non-members. As stated, we are open to the public and membership is not required to participate in any events offered at our two facilities. The Evansville Community Tennis Association aims to grow and invest in the sports of tennis and pickleball. Our vision is to reinvest into our facilities and help youth players’ development on and off the court. We offer Junior programming ranging from young beginner ages 4-6, to middle and high school team players, to the college bound high school players as well. ETC Juniors have advanced to play at the college level at Xavier, Butler, Austin Peay, MIT, Florida, IUPUI, and others. ETC coordinates both USTA and non-sanctioned adult leagues each year. We also offer adult clinics and fun TennisFit classes free to adult members and open to the public for a small fee as well. Our non-profit organization manages and maintains our six indoor tennis courts at ETC and our twelve (12) outdoor courts as well as a clubhouse used for league, community events, tournaments, etc. Now for my favorite opportunity we offer to the public; Our National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL) programs. NJTL is a governing body under the umbrella of USTA (United States Tennis Association). There are 270 NJTL chapters in the US. There are only three (3) in Indiana. We are the Evansville NJTL offering the youth in our community free and reduced tennis events and programs. We are a youth sports-based development organization and tennis is our sport of choice. It is our privilege to be supported by the USTA Foundation. We strive for evidence-based outcomes in our youth programs and settings that make a difference in the lives of the participating youth. We offer not only the sport of tennis, but also the aspects of learning integrated into our programming opportunities. Annually we offer programming to 1100 or so youth in our surrounding tri-state community. Our goal is to increase our numbers by 15% each year, reaching new energetic youth. Our strategies for reaching our goals are to maintain and incorporate new partnerships with other youth minded organizations each year. Tennis continued to grow through the pandemic and has seen a steady increase across the nation. Our organization has continued to capitalize on the growth patterns and our programs are geared to guide the players to their next level of play as they age. While our NJTL programs are focused on youth, our entire organizations platform offers the sport of tennis for youth to older adults to stay engaged in tennis and the health and fitness the sport offers. For our programs and events to remain successful and sustainable, we are supported by the USTA Foundation as well as donations, sponsorships, grants, fundraisers, programming fees, etc.
