About This Cause
Lutheran Child & Family Services (LCFS) celebrated its 140th anniversary as a non profit organization in 2023. Originally founded as an orphanage, over the past 140 years LCFS has evolved with programs and services to serve Indiana's families and children in crisis. Services include; Lutherwood Residential Treatment Program for youth 7-18 who have been abused/neglected resulting in behavioral health diagnosis, supporting those who have been exposed to sex trafficking and need intensive counseling, and Emergency Shelter Care (ESC) for adolescents 12-17 needing short-term care and temporary counseling. LCFS has two non-secure residential programs; Pando Aspen Grove a permanent supportive housing project (30 1-bedroom apartments) for homeless youth 18-24 who have aged out of welfare/foster care; and Trinity House for homeless youth ages 14-21 who attend high school or job training. Non-residential programs include: the INSPIRE program to break down barriers that impede low-income Indianapolis families and support them to escape the cycle of poverty through improved education, employment, mental health, and afterschool programs, and The Sharing Place Food Pantry provides food and hygiene products to low-income families, veterans, and the aged. In addition, LCFS provides home-based services to assist children and advocate for families to access community resources to provide stability to families in need.
