Pathway provides transitional and permanent housing for over 100 unhoused Hoosiers impacted by substance use and mental health disorders; transforming lives and communities.
About This Cause
Pathway to Recovery has been on the front lines treating addiction since 1991 collectively impacting the lives of more than 2,000 Hoosiers. Last year, 150 individuals experiencing homelessness, substance use disorders and health barriers received housing with services focused on sustainable recovery and stability, financial self-sufficiency, peer support and long term housing. Over 50% of those served each year transition to independent living in safe, affordable, substance-free, permanent housing; transitioning from Tax Burdens to Tax Payers. Pathway is cost effective— With the exception of Pathway-I, our entry level program, Pathway’s programs are financially self-supporting with rents based on incomes paid by residents once they are employed. Pathway-I however, will never be self-supporting, as it serves participants with the greatest need and fewest resources. Nevertheless, the entry level programming provided at Pathway-I is the essential first step of an individuals journey back to productivity and good citizenship—a journey that needs and deserves support. Pathway is unique — Program graduates residing in Pathway apartments serving as volunteers help carry out our mission with only four full time and two part-time staff serving nearly 100 residents housed within six substance-free communities. Pathway transforms lives and communities — Pathway’s expansion programs were created by transforming vacant, dilapidated, crime-infested properties into safe, substance-free, affordable housing. From both a healthcare and economic development perspective, there is no other organization doing so much with so little. Pathway has done its work quietly for more than two decades with minimal resources. It has grown and acquired its stellar reputation through sheer passion and real-world results.
