About This Cause
The Humane Society of Washington County (HSWC) was established in 1978 and attained 501(c)(3) status in 1994. The HSWC supports the shelter and ALL animals brought in by providing things like medical assistance for injured animals, food, and consumable supplies (bleach, peroxide, cat litter and deodorizer, bedding, etc), vaccinations and tests required by rescue organizations. By ordinance, any animal adopted from the animal shelter must be spayed or neutered. The HSWC helps keep adoption fees affordable by paying a portion of the spay/neuter cost for each animal adopted. If a resident surrenders a litter of kittens or puppies, the mother is spayed at no cost to the resident. We offer free or low cost spay and neuter surgeries to residents of Washington County.
