About This Cause
At Joy’s House, we serve adults living with life-altering diagnoses and their families by providing exceptional adult day and caregiver services. These services fill a critical gap in senior and disability-services markets by allowing seniors and adults with life-altering diagnoses to delay the need for an assisted living facility or nursing home and remain at home for as long as possible. The Department of Health and Human Services reports that adult day services help maximize cognitive and physical functioning, helping to maintain performance and restore abilities lost due to social isolation and lack of stimulation. Adult day services also help support family caregivers who are the backbone of our nation’s long-term care system. Having the option of adult day services helps give caregivers peace of mind and respite from the demanding responsibilities of caregiving. Additionally, we have Caregiver Support Services for family caregivers who are navigating a myriad of challenges and decisions to provide the best care for their loved ones. Regardless of whether they utilize Joy’s House Adult Day Services, our Caregiver Support Services provide valuable support, education, and respite. Our Guests: Joy's House Guests are living with challenges related to basic aging as well as various diagnoses such as Alzheimer's disease and other dementias, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, Down syndrome, autism, post-stroke, and other conditions. They typically cannot stay at home alone and need a safe place to stay during the day where they can benefit from community and engagement. The care our Guests receive at Joy’s House puts their caregivers at ease while they are out of the house or in need of some respite. Our Caregivers: Typically, Joy's House Guests live at home with a caregiver who is an adult child, spouse, or other family member. The caregiver often has to work or simply needs a break from caregiving and is searching for a safe and stimulating environment for their loved one during the day. In the nearly two decades since we opened our doors to caregiving families, we have etched a necessary path for adult day and caregiver services – programs that have become important staples in our community. We have done this while maintaining our warmth and authenticity as well as our ability to remain strategic and well-informed about need and opportunity. We have put in the hard work, through years of experience and careful planning, to determine our future direction – one that bends toward a world where all individuals with life-altering diagnoses and their families are living fulfilled lives of knowledge, choice, and comfort.
