About This Cause
Student Impact serves students 5th through 12th grade after school at The Rock during the week. Located close to the High School and Middle School at 536 North Union Street, students walk over after school. Simply put, The Rock is much more than just a building. We provide a place where students can come hang out with friends, work on homework, play basketball and volleyball, play video games and eat, eat, eat! The staff and volunteers aim to be positive role models that help guide and mold young men and women to be responsible, giving, and kind adults. Warm food, smiling faces, art activities, and games galore meet every student at The Rock. We have something for everyone: basketball, soccer, gaga ball, four square, X-Box 1, PS4, Wii U, and Wii, board games, cards, and a lot of places to just sit and chat. Additional programs include the Student Leadership Program that is designed to create a space where students naturally explore their leadership qualities in real world opportunities. The program focuses on leadership skill building, real life knowledge, volunteering, social group activities, mentoring, and cross-cultural experiences. Leaders volunteer over 500 hours per month cumulatively. Student Impact Basketball is the Westfield Youth Sports League for 7th through 12th grade for boys and girls. In 2021, we have over 400 players registered. More than 25% of the players play with no fee on scholarship, because at Student Impact, no one sits out because of a lack of money. Additionally, the teams are coached nearly 80% by students themselves, creating leadership opportunities, volunteer experiences, and a safe place each Friday night from November through February.
