Mission Statement
ScaleLIT’s, formerly Chicago Citywide Literacy Coalition's, mission is to help adult education organizations secure resources and training so that underserved adult learners can become economically successful and reframe adult basic education as a critical public policy issue. ScaleLIT’s vision is empowering adult learners to pursue their personal and professional goals and strengthening their families, communities, and future generations.
About This Cause
ScaleLIT leads service integration and equitable access in Chicago and Cook County by remaining a trusted, attentive partner. ScaleLIT supports job seekers, service providers, and the more extensive public workforce network at every system level. ScaleLIT does this work through three areas: Improving access to workforce development programs Improving service integration Improving digital literacy skills as an access point for the workforce ScaleLIT believes that adult education is a vital service that complements, relies on, and feeds into a larger scope of social services that support the overall well-being of individuals and families. Therefore, scaleLIT connects adult education providers to a wide range of opportunities and initiatives that expand the scope of their services. ScaleLIT’s large-scale, complex, multi-partner initiatives have distributed over $1,000,000 to over seventy adult education providers in Chicago and across Illinois, connected more than 15,000 adult learners to local healthcare centers, improved technology at local adult education providers, connected adult learners to government services, and referred thousands of job seekers to career resources and opportunities. As the coalition continues to expand its reach, scaleLIT focuses on bolstering capacity in three core aspects: strengthening career pathways navigation, serving as the OSO for the Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership, and advancing digital literacy. These areas exemplify scaleLIT’s mission to ensure that education and career pathways programs are available to all adults regardless of their skill level, ability, housing status, or background.
