Mission Statement

Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW) is a membership led organization made up of Post-9/11 veterans who are organizing against US militarism at home and abroad alongside advocating for their own care. Founded by the first wave of returning veterans deployed to Iraq the organization gives a voice to veterans who decided through experience that the wars are illegal and immoral. Originally founded on three points of unity: full withdrawal from Iraq and Afghanistan, full benefits for veterans regardless of discharge status and restitution for the people of Iraq and Afghanistan the mission has since expanded to address the effects of the militarism of policing at home.
