Mission Statement
Enabling under privileged children to attend school with dignity, self confidence, and self esteem by supplying them with the items necessary to help them to achieve their goals in life and reach their highest potential.
About This Cause
"Caring For Our Own" is a non profit corporation organized and operated exclusively for charitable purposes, specifically created to help provide professional distribution of the necessary supplies to underprivileged children in need of them and which enable them to attend public school. We are classified under the Internal Revenue Service as a non profit for Public Benefit. We are working with the Liaison officers within the school districts to determine the amount and type of product needed. Along with this program we hope to include those adults, families, individuals, disabled, and/or seniors who also find themselves in need of similar assistance. Under the school portion of this program we will be in contact with a number of public schools during the year to determine the total children in need of shoes, socks, backpacks, rainwear, sports equipment and other products deemed necessary. The Liaison Officer will supply our nonprofit with a list of children's names, grade levels, shoe sizes and teacher names so that we may be informed of the amount of need within a particular school. Having received the lists from the schools that we currently support we will then raise funds to meet the demand. After our product has been purchased our volunteer teams will categorize it by male or female items, size, school name and location. Each shoe, backpack etc., will receive a label stating the name of the student, male or female, grade level, and teacher's name. This is process enables the distribution to go smoothly and takes the least amount of time. In the future we hope to have the cooperation of large corporations to assist us to meet the great need within our public schools. We do not pay anyone on our volunteer team, nor do we use incoming funds for transportation to the areas of distribution. We have been in operation since 2016 and until now, 2019, we have been able to raise enough products to meet the need of the schools we support. In 2016 we started with 2 schools and now in 2019 we have 13 and we are picking up 2 more schools this year, and have one more waiting. Our charity is growing so fast that we now find ourselves in need of help to keep up with the demand. Thank you, Christine Ramos Treasurer/ Director
