About This Cause
The Michiana Humane Society promotes the well-being of the animals of LaPorte County, Indiana and Berrien County, Michigan by providing haven for pets that can no longer stay with their owners, as well as for strays, making sure that they receive veterinary care, and then adopting them into good homes. All of our dogs, cats and rabbits are spayed or neutered before being released. In 2023 MHS took in over 900 unwanted animals, about half from owners who could no longer provide care and the rest as strays. Over 800 were placed during the year. Each year we strive to improve our placement rate, provide good veterinary care, and work to enrich our animals' lives while they are in our care.
