About This Cause
IMPORTANT FACTS ABOUT HEPHZIBAH CHILDREN’S ASSOCIATION Hephzibah Children’s Association provides services each year for over 1,200 individuals in Oak Park, River Forest, Chicago and West Suburban Cook County. • Hephzibah Foster Care services include recruiting, screening, training, licensing and supervising foster parents to provide foster care for children. In 2011, we have over 65 licensed foster homes in Oak Park, River Forest, Chicago, and other nearby suburbs, serving more than 75 children from infancy to age 18. • Our Family-Based Services provide intensive outreach and assessment services to nearly 124 families and 316 children in crisis annually, most of which are located in Oak Park, River Forest, the Austin neighborhood of Chicago, and suburban Cook County. This includes coordination of services to multi-problem families identified as high risk for abuse, neglect, or dependency, as well as in-home services to families as an alternative to removing the children from home. • The Group Homes Program includes the Diagnostic Treatment Center and the Residence where 26 children ages 3-12 reside. The children have been referred to us due to abuse, neglect, or total abandonment, and have emotional and behavioral issues. At the group homes, located in Oak Park, we provide mental health evaluations, child welfare assessments, the delivery of social services to help the children overcome past traumas, and plans for their permanent care. • Hephzibah’s Day Care Program serves over 450 children in kindergarten through fifth grade. Families rely on our care and instruction after school, during holidays, and summer vacation. We operate at eight Oak Park locations, all of which are situated at Oak Park public school facilities. The program is open during the week, Monday through Friday, 2:30 pm to 6pm (school holidays and summer day camp/7am-6pm).
