Ecker Center for Behavioral Health's mission is to optimize the well-being of individuals and communities through the delivery of accessible, comprehensive and quality behavioral health care which includes prevention, education and intervention.
About This Cause
Ecker Center for Behavioral Health is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Elgin, Illinois, dedicated to promoting mental wellness, recovery, and quality of life for individuals and families affected by mental health and substance use disorders. For over 70 years, we have been a trusted partner in the community, providing comprehensive, compassionate, and evidence-based care to individuals of all ages—regardless of income, insurance, or background. Our Mission: We empower people to lead healthier, more fulfilling lives through accessible mental health services, substance use recovery programs, crisis support, and advocacy. We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to heal, grow, and thrive. What We Do: Ecker Center provides a full continuum of behavioral health services designed to meet the unique needs of each individual we serve. Our programs are person-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive. Key services include: Mental Health: - Individual, group, and family therapy - Psychiatric evaluations and medication management - Outpatient counseling and case management - Specialized services for youth, seniors, and LGBTQIA+ individuals - Support for depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, and more Crisis and Stabilization: - 24/7 Crisis Stabilization Unit - Mobile Crisis Response teams serving communities in real time Substance Use & Overdose Prevention: - Substance use treatment and recovery coaching - Integrated care for co-occurring mental health and substance use conditions - Overdose prevention education and Narcan training/distribution - Community overdose awareness events Community-Based Support: - Residential group homes and supported housing - Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) - Drop-in center and peer support services - School-based mental health programs - Outreach to unhoused individuals and underserved populations Our Community Impact: Each year, Ecker Center serves thousands of individuals across Elgin, Kane County, and the greater Fox Valley region. From emergency crisis care to long-term support, our impact extends beyond the individual—we strengthen families, schools, and entire communities. Highlights: - Over 10,000 hours of direct mental health services provided annually - Hundreds of individuals trained in Narcan use - Dozens of volunteers engaged in outreach, education, and event support - New programs in youth mental health and school-based resilience - Proven reduction in emergency room visits through CCBHC model Why Your Support Matters: As a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC), we are committed to providing care to everyone—regardless of their ability to pay. However, CCBHC programs are underfunded and heavily reliant on philanthropic support to remain accessible and effective.
