Mission Statement
For over fifty years, Senior Services of Will County has been connecting older adults, 60 years of age and older, to resources, information, services and programs to keep them safe, healthy and independent.
About This Cause
More than 80,000 adults ages 60 and over live in Will County, according to local government estimates. Wellness screenings can provide key preventive health measures and can monitor current health issues. According to the National Council on Aging, about 80 percent of older adults live with at least one chronic disease, while 77 percent live with at least two. There are four chronic diseases that cause two-thirds of death each year—heart disease, cancer, stroke, and diabetes. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 14th, seniors are invited to the South Gym at Romeoville Recreation Center in Romeoville, IL for free health screenings for podiatry, blood pressure, cholesterol, respiratory, hearing, skin and more. More than 30 vendors are expected to attend to provide screening services, including local medical providers. Workshops will be held on senior scams and medical cannabis and others. Senior attendees will receive a free Lunch by a local caterer and can win door prizes. Volunteers can receive lunch for $10 and must pre-register by November 8th by calling Senior Services of Will County at (815) 723-9713.
