Mission Statement

Proudly founded by ethnic Chinese refugees, Chinese Mutual Aid Association (CMAA) is led by many prominent individuals from the Asian American community. Our purpose is to serve the needs, promote the interests, and enhance the well-being of low-income, diverse immigrant and refugee communities across metropolitan Chicago through social services, advocacy, educational programming and assistance for youth, adults, the elderly and small businesses.

About This Cause

Chinese Mutual Aid Association (CMAA) is a 501(c)(3) community-based social services organization located in the Uptown neighborhood of Chicago. Originally established in 1981 by Vietnamese refugees of ethnic Chinese origin, CMAA now serves low income immigrant and refugee clients from over 40 countries, speaking 20+ different languages. CMAA is a strong advocate for immigrant and refugee communities, providing comprehensive services to foster client integration into U.S. society. Among our many services, CMAA currently offers: adult education English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, after-school & summer youth programming, in-home services for seniors, immigration case and citizenship assistance, workforce training & placement services, housing assistance, small business development and more.
