About This Cause

The City Colleges of Chicago (CCC), officially known as Community College District 508, is one of the nation’s largest community college districts and the largest in Illinois. Almost six thousand faculty and staff help prepare nearly 120,000 students each year to enter the workforce, pursue higher education and advance their careers. Stretching from the far Northwest Side to the city’s southern border, City Colleges’ reach is expansive. The District serves students on seven campuses and seven satellite sites. It also oversees two restaurants, five child care centers, a pastry school, a center for distance learning, the WYCC TV Channel 20 public television station, and WKKC 89.3 FM radio station. Through our seven colleges, we deliver exceptional learning opportunities and educational services for diverse student populations in Chicago. We enhance knowledge, understanding, skills, collaboration, community service and life-long learning by providing a broad range of quality, affordable courses, programs, and services to prepare students for success in a technologically advanced and increasingly interdependent global society. CCC works to eliminate barriers to employment and to address and overcome inequality of access and graduation in higher education. To ensure Chicagoans are prepared for careers in growing fields and are able to seize the tens of thousands of new job openings over the next decade, the City Colleges of Chicago launched College to Careers. CCC is enhancing its occupational programs in seven fast-growing fields. Each program is headquartered at one of the City Colleges: Healthcare at Malcolm X College; Transportation, Distribution & Logistics (TDL) at Olive-Harvey College; Business, Professional Services & Entrepreneurship at Harold Washington College; Information Technology at Wilbur Wright College; Advanced Manufacturing at Richard J. Daley College; Culinary and Hospitality at Kennedy-King College; and Education, Human, and Natural Sciences at Harry S Truman College.
